Preferred Medication Program
  • MED-SELECT- KPS’ preferred medication program, provides optimal medication selection to optimize clinical and financial outcomes.
  • KPS Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee, consisting of board-certified physicians, nurses and pharmacists, works in conjunction with Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy to continually review the most current information and studies to facilitate appropriate medicine selection
  • "Preferred” medications must meet clinical standards for efficacy and safety in the geriatric population. Consideration is also given to drug products that require less frequent dosing, subsequently saving nursing administration time.
  • KPS pharmacists work with residents’ physicians to determine that each resident’s medication selection is optimal for their special needs; by prescribing “preferred” medications, when appropriate.
